NFT, which has garnered so much attention on the internet, will have a huge impact on the gaming industry. This new technology has the potential to transform the economic potential of the online video game industry.

Combine NFT with the gaming industry using the concept of a meta-universe, and you will witness an evolution hitting the technological world.

Start Atlas is one such project setting the pace for a new generation of games. Through a dual-token economy, Star Atlas creates a virtual gaming experience in the far future.

Star Atlas players can travel the vast wastes of space in search of NFT-based gems. It combines blockchain mechanics with NFT-based game elements and unique graphics technology to create a meta-universe experience.

What is Star Atlas (ATLAS and POLIS)?

Star Atlas is a large space-themed strategy video game built on the Solana blockchain. It is a large-scale multiplayer meta-universe set in the far future, in the year 2620.

The gaming platform explores some of the recent technological breakthroughs using Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite to create cinematic-quality video games and visual experiences.

Players in the Star Atlas meta-universe can trade, receive and create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the Star Atlas universe, and thereby enjoy an economy that reflects the tangibility, ownership and value of real assets.

Star Atlas is built on the Solana blockchain and therefore capitalizes on the network’s transaction throughput, which maintains an extremely high level of 50,000 TPS (transactions per second).

Solana is positioned as one of the fastest, most secure and censorship-resistant blockchain networks, providing an open infrastructure from which decentralized applications can be created. Solana also offers affordable transaction fees, averaging around $0.00025 per transaction.

The universe of the Star Atlas game is vast, and players will embark on lonely and challenging journeys punctuated by countless dangers while they gather resources and compete to outsmart other players in the meta-universe.

Players can construct entire cities and build micro-economies in-game, or even collaborate and create decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to govern specific regions. Players can even extract real monetary value from the virtual in-game items they collect during the game. Unlike most centralized gaming platforms that limit resale and full ownership of in-game items, Star Atlas fully supports decentralization. Players will fully own the assets they accumulate in-game, with the ability to sell NFT-enabled in-game items on NFT secondary trading platforms.

The whole idea is to encourage monetization of time spent in the Star Atlas game, thereby providing a real economic benefit to participation.

At its core, the Star Atlas game is designed to mimic how the blockchain works, with incentives to support and protect the Star Atlas ecosystem.

For example, the strategy aspect of the game incentivizes players where they use stealth to expand their empire using invasive and defensive tactical plans. Consequently, as long as the player interacts with the game platform, they contribute to the security of the network.

The game also features an exploration aspect where players can fly a spaceship with a crew into the vast and sucking darkness of the Star Atlas universe in search of riches that can be put into steak or mined through mining. Players can find hidden surprises in outer space, while their virtual activities assist in mining and finding blocks.

Decentraland is a virtual reality platform or virtual world powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Users explore the project’s meta universe and fill it with content.

In Decentraland, users create various artifacts and interactive objects. The objects and plots of land in this virtual world are NFTs. They are traded on an internal marketplace.

MANA and LAND coins are used on the platform. The non-mutually exchangeable tokens LAND are plots of land and MANA is used for settlement and management.

Who created Decentraland and when?

Esteban Ordano and Ariel Meilich founded Decentraland in 2015. Prior to that, Ordano worked as a programmer at Bitpay and Meilich worked as an analyst at Charles River Ventures.

The developers initially released the virtual world as a two-dimensional pixel map. Dots were colored in a specific color and linked to metadata that allowed them to be identified.

In 2016, the team began creating a digital world using 3D graphics.

In 2017, Decentraland raised 86,206 ETH ($24 million at the time) in an ICO. The organization maintains the project’s website and also owns the intellectual property rights. The developers kept 20% of the raised funds.

The development plan of the platform was formed in 2017, and its beta version was presented in 2019. Later, interactive applications and the possibility of in-game communication were added.

In February 2020, the developers presented the final version of the meta universe.

What can you do in Decentraland?

The platform belongs to the GameFi sector – provides users with gaming and financial opportunities. Players explore territories, communicate and participate in interactive scenes, as well as create virtual objects in the form of NFTs.

Various events take place in Decentraland, including exhibitions, trainings and workshops. The meta-universe allows advertising products and services, as well as informing about upcoming activities.

In the white paper of the project various ways of developing the meta universe and expanding the gameplay possibilities are described. Users can create objects, mini-games and applications. The team offers two tools for developing the virtual world:

  • The Builder. It is a browser-based editor that allows you to create and edit the content of the meta universe by dragging and dropping objects.
  • Decentraland SDK. A set of development tools designed to implement interactive scenes and custom elements.

Libraries extend the possibilities of interactive content. Territory owners can create mini-games and generate revenue from them.

Helium Network is one of the promising crypto projects using HNT cryptocurrency. The essence of the development is the creation of distributed wireless network access points with a huge range.

Investors can get HNT cryptocurrency in several ways. The first is to buy the asset on exchanges. The second is to purchase and install a helium miner in your office or home.

The Helium network consists of several hundred thousand devices around the world, which are wireless access points and are united in The People’s Network.

The Internet network is integrated with Helium’s blockchain and its native cryptocurrency, HNT, necessary to pay for data transmission work and to reward access point owners. Some of The People’s Network devices are also node-validators.

Who created Helium?

Helium Systems, a company founded in 2013 in San Francisco (USA) by Sean Fanning, Amir Halim and Sean Carey, is responsible for the project. The initial goal of the startup was to create a global decentralized network for various devices that could exchange small-sized data files with a remote center. Thus, the founders of Helium in many ways anticipated the spread of the Internet of Things (IoT) concept.

The company is now led by Amir Halim, the other founders have left the company. Another key employee is CTO Mark Nijdam, who has over 25 years of experience in large IT companies.

Since its founding, Helium Systems has made several rounds of investments and raised funds totaling about $365 million.

What is included in the Helium network?

The wireless network is powered by specialized modems that utilize Helium LongFi technology. It connects a special wireless communication protocol LoRaWAN (Long Range wide-area network) to the blockchain.

The People’s Network includes more than 820,000 access points (one point – one modem) located in more than 62,000 cities and 173 countries. The network adds approximately 60,000 new points each month. Helium has the best coverage in urban agglomerations in the United States, as well as in European countries and eastern China.

The Helium network doesn’t have enough bandwidth to watch videos or play games. However, it provides a reliable Internet channel for devices that regularly transmit small data packets.

Basic Attention Token (BAT) is an internal cryptocurrency of the free Brave Web3 browser. Any user can earn native BAT tokens without straining – you just need to view ads in the browser.

To be fair, it should be noted that you can’t earn a lot – the maximum earnings based on the amount of paid advertising offered – no more than 40-50 dollars per month.

Brave browser has a “Tip” function, which allows the user to tip the content creators they like in social networks.

What is the purpose of the BAT token created for? The main purpose is to be a unit of exchange without intermediaries. The token is also used as a reward for users, publishers and advertisers. Users get tokens for paying attention to ads, publishers get a portion of the ad revenue, and advertisers get high profitability for their campaigns. In this way, the BAT network aims to make online advertising more transparent and the distribution of ad revenue more equitable.

History of the Basic Attention Token (BAT) project

Basic Attention Token was created by Brendan Eich and Brian Bondy. These people are very famous in the IT field. Brendan developed JavaScript, one of the most famous programming languages. Brian and Brendan helped in the development of the Mozilla Firefox browser. Brian Bondy has also contributed a lot to the development of projects such as Khan Academy, Evernote. BAT team members are revolutionaries in today’s advertising industry. They improve current trends that are disadvantageous to users, advertisers, and publishers. Their ideas can give us a product that we will use extensively in the future. The BAT project is known as one of the fastest ICOs: on May 31, 2017, $35 million was raised in 30 seconds. 130 people purchased tokens, 5 of them bought half of the offering.

Benefits of BAT

  • BAT is a cryptocurrency that could revolutionize the advertising industry. BAT is one of very few cryptocurrencies with a legitimate use case and a working product.
  • The BAT token has a clear purpose and value in the ecosystem offered.
  • BAT is built by a team with a proven track record in IT.
  • The BAT team demonstrates transparency and reliability. They regularly conduct online interviews (Ask-me-anything streams) with key stakeholders. A token holder can ask a question about the project and immediately get an honest answer.

BAT Disadvantages

  • The Brave browser is a direct competitor to the Chrome browser. This can be a very strong competition for a young project.
  • One of the main problems is that the success of BAT depends on the popularity of the Brave browser. The token will have no value if the browser is not popular
